Give a Book for the Holidays

The holidays are just around the corner.  No matter which one you celebrate, almost everyone looks for something to give as a gift.  Sometimes you need something for a family member.  Other times, it's a co-worker and you're involved in a "Secret Santa" exchange.  Or, perhaps you just want to donate to those less fortunate than you.

Whatever your motivation, consider giving a gift of words.  Books are the window to another world and should not be overlooked when considering a gift.  If an eReader is on someone's list, consider giving an eBook to go along with it.  I remember, as a child, folks said you couldn't give someone a gift of an empty wallet or purse.  You needed to put at least a penny inside before you gave the gift.  That eReader is just like the wallet and purse; don't give it empty.  Put a book or two inside to get the recipient off to a good start.

What about the little people on your list?  It's never too early to get them involved in reading and establishing a love of books.

Happy holidays to all and may your reading be pleasurable.

  1. I've bought so many books for Christmas this year. That's just about all my girls had on their wish lists. :)

  2. Rena, that's great. You're raising those girls right. Happy Holidays!

  3. On Sunday we celebrated Christmas with my hubby's side of the family. All the young children received books from us. It was great to see the excitement on their faces when they unwrapped them.

    Merry Christmas, Penny!

  4. Good choice, Susanne. There's no better gift for a child than a good book (or for an adult). Happy Holidays to you.
