Kat Holmes, Reflections of Ice, plus #giveaway

AUTHOR: Kat Holmes
BOOK TITLE: Reflections Of Ice
PUBLISHER: Muse It Up

GIVEAWAY? I will be giving away Frozen, book one in this series to one lucky commenter.

Please tell us about yourself? I live in Mobile, Alabama with my mom and two precious kitties. I have a deep love of Greek mythology and adore a good vampire story.:-)

When and why did you begin writing? I began writing as a teenager just for my own enjoyment. I started to write professionally three years ago at the encouragement of my dear friend a talented author, N.J. Walters.

When did you first consider yourself a writer? I have always considered myself a writer. And a reader for that matter.

What inspired you to write your first book? I love fantasy novels but so few really good fantasy romance books are out there. Its not a huge genre as yet. So I decided to write what I wanted to read.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp? In Reflections Of Ice? Not really. I just want people to enjoy a good story and hopefully they’ll enjoy mine.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?  (Has anyone ever realized it?) Yes. Not the world shifting, at least I don’t think so.:-) But the heroine is on the run from domestic abuse and unfortunately that really happens.

What books have most influenced your life most? Oh God too many to name. I love books and have so many favorites.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor? N.J. Walters hands down.

What book are you reading now? What do you like, or not, about it? I’m currently reading the Warriors of Poseidon series by Alyssa Day. I like everything about it. All her heroes are hunks I’d kill to be with.

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest? The authors aren’t new, just new to me. Nalini Singh, J.R. Ward and Sherrilyn Kenyon.

What are your current projects? I’m currently working on the sequel to my vampire series and the next sequel to this series.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book? Nope. I love this book.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing? Yes I get sick a lot and that interferes.

What do you do when you’re not writing/editing or thinking about writing/editing? Reading, playing with my cats, listening to music.

Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work? N.J. Walters. She is so dynamic. You actually feel for her characters and cry if they are struggling.

Do you have any advice for other writers? Never stop trying. If you believe in yourself and your work, it will happen. Just be patient and persistant.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers? Thank you all for reading my books. You are my rock and the reason I continue to write.

Who is your publisher and how did you connect with them? Muse It Up Publishing. I followed an editor there from another house.

How can we find you? Website, Facebook, Twitter, blog, etc. - please share your public links.

  7. I am going to reply, but I don't want to be included in the give-away becasue I am lucky enough to read Kat's work as she's writing it...AND I get to be her sounding board as she outlines future stories too.

Artica is an amazing land and Kat has created it with such attention to detail I almost expect when I open my door and leave our apartment if I turn right I will step over the time-warp and land right smack in the center of Artica.

Awnie, Brent, Elric, Tichi, and now Delia have become so real to me, I almost think of them like they are the grandchildren I don't have.

To whomever wins the free copy of FROZEN...are you in for a treat...and I know once you've read Book One, you're going to eagerly stand in line so you can find out what happens in this book...and try to guess what book three will be about.

Penny, as always your generosity in opening your blog for other authors and the wise and informative questions you design make it a pleasure to authors to guest visit, and an equal pleasure for the rest of us to pop in and find out what your guests have to say.

Kat...you KNOW I'm sitting on the edge of my...backend parts waiting for the next book in your Artica Light Series. Can't wait to read what you and Tichi, the God of Artica have in store for all of us.
